Pushing T cells down 'memory lane' may improve cancer therapy

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital researchers discovered a molecular mechanism that, in a preclinical study, revealed the promise of CAR T-cell therapy for the treatment of solid tumors. The findings were published in the journal Nature today.

"Our work extends from the basic biology of T lymphocytes to a potential clinical application, with an exploration of deep molecular mechanisms along the way," said co-corresponding author and St. Jude Department of Immunology chair Doug Green, Ph.D. "We discovered that, like many of us, if you are an activated T cell, events early in your life can have an impact on your later development. We discovered that an early interaction between the protein c-Myc and the complex cBAF influences cell fate trajectory."
